Museum Detectives @ 7pm

Explore the role museums play in our society and the “pieces of history” they display. Uncover the stories of a number of artefacts by working through a set of questions and discover the historical information they contain. Suitable for all ages!                 

 

January 19

Behind-the-Scenes Touch Tour @ 7pm

Join one of our museum curators for a behind-the-scenes touch tour of the artefact collection. Explore spaces normally off limits to the public on a personal tour led by Sara Byers. Learn from her fourteen years experience working with the city’s historic collections as you hold pieces of history in your own hands. Bring a flashlight to explore dark corners. This tour is not intended for young children.

Space limited to first 15 guests. Free tour.

It's me for the Inland Lakes @ 7pm

Songs, chanteys and colourful tales of the sailors who worked under canvas during “schooner days” on the Great Lakes. Performed by Ian Bell on concertina, guitar and banjo and presented along with a PowerPoint slide show of terrific period images of Great Lakes vessels, ports and sailors.

Then and Now: The History and Excavations of the Minoan Site of Gournia @ 7pm
Gournia is an ancient Minoan palace site that has a fascinating history beginning in the Bronze Age and continuing into modern day.  Two excavations have taken place here, one in 1901 and one more recently in 2010.  This talk will explore the past of Gournia in order to reconstruct the unique site.

These volunteers are enthusiastic and have a passion for story telling based on artefacts within our collection, and their personal experiences as Niagara Falls and area residents.ensure a spot!

Join Shine On Yoga for a FREE community yoga class. Relaxing hatha yoga class, geared toward reducing stress and anxiety, improving sleep quality and maintaining or re-gaining your health. No yoga experience necessary.  Wear comfortable clothing, bring a water bottle and a yoga mat if you have one. Recommended for ages 16 and up.  20 Participants max, please come early to ensure a spot!
