Our volunteer Museum Insiders engage visitors with short stories based on some of the artefacts seen at the Niagara Falls History Museum.  They are Niagara Falls and area residents, passionate about their storytelling.  It is their delight to involve their audiences with new perspectives on the history told in our galleries.

Community Yoga Series @ 7pm

Join Shine On Yoga for a FREE community yoga class. Relaxing hatha yoga class, geared toward reducing stress and anxiety, improving sleep quality and maintaining or re-gaining your health. No yoga experience necessary.  Wear comfortable clothing, bring a water bottle and a yoga mat if you have one. Recommended for ages 16 and up.  20 Participants max, please come early to ensure a spot!

Playwrights Niagara @ 7pm

Local writers, Katherine Albers and Shelia Laundry of "Playwrights Niagara" will present an entertaining dramatic reading of their WWI themed plays World War I at Woodburn and Into the Blue. Playwrights Niagara includes professional Niagara area writers who support one another in the conception, development and presentation of their work.

World War I at Woodburn by Katherine Albers: The matriarch of the Osborne family has some difficulty accepting her oldest son's new spouse: how is she going to take the news that her younger one is going to war?

Into the Blue by Sheila Laundry. A play celebrating the "ups and downs" of Niagara's Royal Flying Corps in WWI.

Portrait Painting Demonstration @ 7pm

Join local artist George Doros for a discussion and demonstration of portrait painting in honour of the exhibit Faces: Portrait from our City. The artist will be working with a live model to create an oil painting.

Ramses I - Our Niagara Pharaoh @ 7pm

Come hear Gayle Gibson, the well-loved Egyptologist with the Royal Ontario Museum, in a special travel and history talk on Niagara's unique connection with Ancient Egypt. In this presentation by Ancient Egypt Alive, the internationally known mummy and coffin expert will regale us with tales of Egypt and the peculiar Egyptian Mummy who resided in the old Niagara Museum until the 1990s. It was Gibson herself who identified the Niagara Falls mummy as none other than Pharaoh Ramses I, and helped to get him back to Egypt.

School’s out and the summer holidays are here! Come celebrate with the Museum by exploring the Middle Ages! Meet a knight, try on some armour and make a coat of arms!
